This talk presents an array of teacher images to explain how they affect the teacher identities of mid-career and pre-service teachers, as well as students and levels of public support. We see what is inspiring, worrisome, funny, and professionally useful about different types of teacher characters and look at ways of co-opting teacher images to advocate for classrooms.
