Concept-based learning does not begin with big, abstract ideas – it starts with students experiencing new and exciting things with their hands, eyes, ears, and minds! In this seminar, teachers will explore fun and interactive strategies for building concept-based science classrooms. We will work together to connect a variety of building blocks for student experience – including print and digital text, field study ideas, experiments, multimedia stations, and games – to curriculum expectations and concepts. Participants will leave the workshop with a useful toolkit of lesson plan ideas and activity prompts.
