To engage adolescent readers, we have to meet them where they are. We will consider how to give students influence over the structure of their education to make it more engaging.
Teachers will be involved in a discussion about how they can get to know their students as readers. We will look at some resources that will help teachers with reading surveys and identifying excellent reading materials. Junior High and High School English teachers will have the opportunity to view a model reading conference so that they are better able to identify the reading needs of their own students.
